Safety and how Alongside works

Alongside is a set of tools that AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can use during conversations about wellbeing. Your AI holds the conversation; Alongside gives it checked, sourced information to draw on instead of improvising.

At a glance

  • What it does

Shares crisis lines, offers two questionnaires, explains common experiences, guides exercises and points to care. See What it does.

  • What it never does

Diagnoses, tells anyone they "have" a condition, provides treatment, or replaces a doctor, therapist or emergency service.

  • Safety first

At any sign of risk, your AI is told to share crisis lines before anything else. See How safety works.

Not a medical device

Alongside does not provide diagnosis or treatment.

The limits of AI

AI assistants can make mistakes, and Alongside can't control everything your AI says. If something doesn't feel right, trust yourself and reach out to a person.

Report a concern

If you see Alongside give wrong or unsafe information, please tell us at safety@alongside.london. We read every report.
